Monday afternoon, the CACC attended a  press conference las vegas air and hotel deals at DFW Airport held to announce the new Automated Passport Control system.  The system permits travelers from the US and Canada to arrive at DFW and use a kiosk device to clear customs more quickly.  According to Ken Buchanan, DFW Airport executive vice president, las vegas air and hotel deals terminal D experienced a 66% growth in international travelers since 2008.   He continued to say, some of our international passengers spent up to three hours waiting to clear customs and that is no way to greet our guests.
Since the kiosks have been activated, overall wait times have been reduced by 20%.  This number comes as only US and Canadian passport holders may use the system at this time.  With the increase of foreign destinations and originations, the airport las vegas air and hotel deals hopes to see the number of kiosks grow as well as the number of country passports the system will recognize and process.  Eventually the system will be able recognize various visas and green cards but for the moment keys only off of passport data as passengers pass through the Dallas destination.
Still, as many passengers find out, the kiosks only operate in the Customs Hall in Terminal D.  American Airlines, Air Canada and WestJet flights that originate in Canada clear US customs at the Canadian airport and land in either terminals A, B, C and E.  Currently similar APCs can be found in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.  The purpose of the kiosk is to replace the US and Canadian declaration forms filled out by passengers as they move from one country to the other.
