Buhridy May 28, 2011 2:05AM Sorry but there is no way I would buy a car I knew had been submerged, even if a mechanic OK'd it and even if I knew without a doubt that the dealer really had replaced the interior, greased the wires, etc. It's just asking for trouble.      100      4 Replies ( 0 ) Hide replies Report Spam Previous replies     Write a reply... dave4stuff May 31, 2011 1:29PM You should never buy a car that was in a flood. I bought one once. I pulled all the interior out and took a water hose to it. Mud came out from everywhere. You will never get it out. The mud will set in every crack and crevice and will rot your body from the inside out. Just an experience that I had.      96      5 Replies ( 0 ) Hide replies Report Spam Previous replies     Write a reply... land cruise vacation to alaska RimRock May 29, 2011 1:48AM I have heard about this now for several years, the selling of flooded cars, etc.. It just amazes me as to what the Governments of this country will let business's and companies get away with. One way to get them to "really total" these cars people, is even if you have the slightest suspicion it has been flooded or something else, WALK away from the car do not buy it, and WALK away from the DEALER trying to sell it!! This article is very misleading, actually encouraging you to buy a "PROPERLY" repaired car! All I have to say is, DON'T DO IT!!!      70      6 Replies ( 0 ) Hide replies Report Spam Previous replies     Write a reply... kubreez May 31, 2011 12:40PM p.s. RimRock May 31, 2011 1:07PM Yeah, what if the "automaker's factory" is in a flooded area?! What do you think they're going to due with the Hundred's of cars they have built and parked there??! Remember the pictures from Japan, with all of those cars washing around in the tsunami waters??! You can bet your last dollar they are not going to "junk" all of those cars, at least some of them will be shipped around the world, and sold somehow, probably to disreputable car dealers!!      63      7 Replies ( 0 ) Hide replies Report Spam Previous replies     Write a reply... WNC May 31, 2011 11:36AM To the debate of new verses used. It is to each their preference, but buying used is the best sense. I purchased a 2004 Cavalier for $3000.00. That is what 5 to 10 payments on a new car depending on the car, now i bank the payment in my 401K and will get to retire with some money. Plus if I lose my job I keep my car.      57      2 Replies ( 0 ) Hide replies Report Spam Previous replies land cruise vacation to alaska     Write a reply... jesse78 May 28, 2011 9:10PM
Will a "car fax" report show that? Certainly - the dealer/seller would have to give me an "iron clad" paper guarantee that a used car had never been in flood waters.      49      5 Replies ( 0 ) Hide replies Report Spam Previous replies     Write a reply... RRNM May 30, 2011 10:56PM Forget the CARFAX. 90% of sellers(including dealers) will nver report any issues including land cruise vacation to alaska flood damage. That way they can get the large greed and you get the shaft. Stay away from used cars unless you know the car well, such as from a GOOD friend. I've learned my lesson TWICE.      55      12 Replies ( 0 ) Hide replies Report Spam Previous replies     Write a reply... sonogun Jun 5, 2011 3:27PM Mildew in the seat and carpets is just part of your problem. It only takes one small grain of rock, sand or dirt to clog up a fuel injector. No matter how many times you clean the entire fuel system, there will always be debris left that will foul your injectors. That same debris will alway be present in your engine unless it has been completely torn down, all the parts have been hot tanked, brushed, rinsed and reassembled. If you were to miss any debris, you will likely score your bearings and rings and experience premature bearing and cylinder failure which are both fatal to the engine. If you suspect the car has been water damaged because of the tell-tell smell, take some things apart and look for water or dirt, you will find it because unless they have completely land cruise vacation to alaska disassembled the whole car including the dashboard and re-worked every part, you will find signs of water damage. No one looking to rip you off by selling you a flood damaged car is going to do that much work; it is much easier to prey on the unsuspected. Be real careful with high end cars which would appear to be a deal or a rush sell like a divorce or "I lost my job and need money".      24      1 Replies ( 0 ) Hide replies Report Spam Previous replies     Write a reply...
