31000 miles on a 2012? You should be looking to not pay more than 16-17k. Thats a shit ton of mileage, and it being a rental should drive the price down even more. I personally wouldnt think about buying it for more than $16k flat OTD. Thats only $5-6k depreciation for 31k miles AND it being a rental car. Even that depreciation number sounds like it should be more, but it is a 2012, so that helps the value a tiny bit.

my thoughts exactly re: the mileage. It was a rental at the same dealer that is selling it, and they had it in use for 11 months. In comparison, another 12 SE that was a rental for 8 months has 17k miles on it, is also fully loaded with nav, and they have that listed for 22,900. I'm thinking 18 OTD on that one

My dealer has a few SE's they use as rentals. rental car discount coupons I think they use them so people who bought LE's and get some service done, drive the SE as their rental car and the dealer might think they will say wow this car is so nice and may decide they HAVE to have an SE instead of their LE. IDK, just a thought!
For some reason, I would tend to trust a rental from a toyota dealer more than hertz/enterprise. Not to say the drivers of those cars are any less rough on them. I have never rented a car from a dealership, only a loaner here and there for work that would take all day.
