Where do I even begin on this post.... L'enfant Plaza Hotel was quickly nicknamed L'expensive korea dmz tour by me. After our first few moments at the hotel and night we were thinking about going back to the extended stay. But after three nights in three different hotels, and all the loading and unloading, and experience just getting into this room we decided to stick it out.
This is the only photo I have from in the hotel room... korea dmz tour Yep, this was life of a pressure sore on a road trip. If you remember, Colin had his leg surgery just two weeks after this trip. So the other photos are from online korea dmz tour and sources are cited. Now, the story of this hotel...
After the extended stay didn't have a roll in shower and just the tub with the "accessible bench", Colin looked for other hotel options. He came across L'enfant Plaza Hotel. The main bonus was the Metro stop which was in the lowest level of the hotel. This would have been great.... IF.... the accessible elevator was at the hotel, instead it was 3 BLOCKS AWAY! That was just one of the downfalls.
When Colin made the reservation for the hotel he was told they had an accessible room with a roll in shower. When we arrived at the hotel, first they couldn't find the reservations. Thankfully, Colin had gotten an e-mail confirmation after making the reservation. Then they wanted to put us in the "suite" portion of a full suite on a couch bed! Yep, they wanted to put us on the couch in half of a room for the full price of a room with actual beds! After much unhappiness from us, they moved rooms around (good thing we were early and the other people hadn't arrived) and gave us an actual room.
You would think by the look of the lobby (note the second picture up), that the hotel was going to be all nice and beautiful. Wrong, while the lobby was nice, you stepped back several years once you got off the elevator onto the floors. We had to ask for a fridge and microwave for the room, and I ended up going to get breakfast food since breakfast wasn't korea dmz tour provided.
Another downside, PARKING! You have valet parking (the valet guys were super nice, and liked the Mazda 5, and asked to help with whatever was needed) but the price per night of the parking was insane!
Overall, we were not happy with the hotel, but at this point we were both tired of the packing korea dmz tour and unpacking and everything else. So we decided to just stick it out and not kill our tourist time by having to make another hotel change.
