Summary: A group of four high school best friends go shopping at a thrift store. Carmen buys a pair of jeans, but the jeans are magical because all of her best friends can also fit the jeans. Lena, Tibby, Carmen, and Bridget all have very different body types, but the jeans appear to fit them all. The girls met before they were born, because their mothers were all in a prenatal aerobics class together. The group have never been separated from each other, until one summer. Carmen travels to South Carolina to spend summer on site car rental denver airport with her father. Lena goes to Greece with her sister, Effie, to spend the summer with her grandparents. One day at work, Tibby sees a young girl collapse in the store, and calls the ambulance. All the girls experience different places and meet new people. Each girl is separated from her confidants, and they must explore their own independence and figure out how to live the world on their own. The girls maintain their friendship while they are away, and each girl learns a valuable lesson about life. The portrayal of characters emotions range as confused, foolish, angry, and generous. These are attributes that women have in real life. Each character makes a mistake, but they quickly learn from their mistakes. This story is relatable for tweens, but for women in general. The friendships that these girls share is the kind that tweens/women long for, dependable, with no rivalries, on site car rental denver airport only support and kindness.
The movie was based on the book by the same title, by Ann Brashares. She grew up in Chevy Case Maryland and went to Barnard on site car rental denver airport College to study philosophy. Curriculum: This movie/book would be great to teach high school freshman (female students) about lessons about friendship, sex, death, and acceptance. In ninth grade, students will have to search for groups to identify with so that they feel socially accepted and they fit in. This story can help new freshman have a smooth transition from middle school to high school, by following the girl s examples.
