Attention Canadian readers! Air Canada has just launched a new airline within an airline called travel to greece Air Canada Rouge that is going to service seasonal leisure destinations in Europe and the Caribbean with flights departing daily from Toronto and Montreal beginning July 1, 2013.
You can book Rouge flights through aircanada.com and aircanadavacations.com just as you would with a regular Air Canada flight. The twist is that you earn a set amount of miles per segment based on the type of fare you get and the destination:
Hopefully the fares on the airline travel to greece will be discounted to reflect travel to greece the lower earning ratios. At least today only to celebrate Air Canada is offering double the miles you'd normally travel to greece earn for flights on all fare classes between the launch on July 1, 2013, and October 26, 2013. It doesn t explicitly say so on the Air Canada Rouge landing page, but was announced through Aeroplan s Facebook page today (see below and keep this screenshot for proof in case your miles aren t credited).
So if you already know you'll travel to greece be taking a Caribbean or European vacation from Toronto over the summer or fall, might as well check out the new fares and score double miles if it makes more sense (and earns you more miles) than booking a regular Air Canada flight.
If you can come up with a way that this earns more miles than buying a normal AC (or other partner) ticket then you re a miracle worker. The points from Rouge are a joke. Buy it if you like the fare or the service but don t pretend that the points are compelling, even doubled.
