But it’s not their last. Mike Sims said the couple is exploring locations in the Ortega/Roosevelt area as well as Intracoastal West for their next Your Pie restaurant(s). Among consideration for other future locations are Mandarin, South Jacksonville (near Baptist make money travel Medical Center South), the Beaches and River City Marketplace.
They own the franchise rights make money travel for North and Central Florida for the 5-year-old, Athens, Ga.-based Your Pie, one of several make money travel fast casual pizza concepts to launch in recent years, including Atlanta-based Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint and Dallas-based Pie Five , a subsidiary of Pizza Inn Holdings.
Jacksonville, however, is a target for Pie Five, as part of a 25-unit make money travel deal with franchisee L. Gale Lemerand, the company announced in June. To date, though, no locations have opened in Florida. And in April, the same month Uncle Maddio’s opened a restaurant in Tallahassee, the company announced that Jacksonville was included in a deal to open 18 additional restaurants in Florida.
All three offer 9- or 10-inch pizzas, ready in about five minutes. The “down-the-line” ordering concept allows guests to create a personal pizza, selecting from a choice of crusts, cheeses, sauces and dozens of toppings, similar to ordering a burrito at Chipotle or a sandwich at Subway .
At Your Pie, the difference is the brick oven, said CEO Bucky Cook at pre-opening event at the new Tapestry Park location. The brick oven, Cook says, offers a better quality pizza compared to those cooked on a conveyor belt at some pizza restaurants.
The new restaurant is just the 18th for Your Pie, founded in 2008 by Drew French . Cook said the chain has leases signed for three additional restaurants in other markets; and lease negotiations are under way for six other restaurants.
Located make money travel in the historic San Marco Building make money travel at 1974 San Marco Blvd., the sister restaurant to downtown’s Indochine — which launched just under three years ago at 31 E. Adams St. — opened for lunch service on Monday following a soft opening over the weekend.
Indochine owners Mark and Ladda Salter and executive chef Susie Sysouvanh , who just a year ago launched Pho A Noodle Bar two blocks from downtown’s Indochine, took over the historic San Marco Building in May, renaming and relaunching street-level bar Square One as Buddha Lounge .
When he announced the project in early May, Mark Salter said that even though the new location is just two miles from the original downtown restaurant, he expects it to bring the Indochine concept to a new customer base.
“The river makes a big difference,” make money travel Salter said. “There’s a lot of people make money travel in San Marco who won’t come downtown,” he said, including make money travel some who associate downtown with problems of crime and parking. Additionally, he expects to draw customers from San Jose and Beau Clerc.
According to plans submitted recently to the St. Johns Water Management District, PDQ plans to build and open a restaurant at 13730 Old St. Augustine Road at the Publix- and Kohl’s-anchored Shoppes at Bartram Park. The standalone, 4,411-square-foot restaurant will go up on 1.2 acres between Wells Fargo and 121 Financial Credit Union on the western edge of the retail center.
The restaurant is the second of several planned by PDQ and investor/NFL quarterback Tim Tebow in Northeast Florida; work is already under way at 3260 Hodges Blvd., the site of PDQ’s first restaurant in Jacksonville.
PDQ’s Bartram Park location will join restaurants Panera, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Subway, Bamboo Wok, Tijuana Flats. Brooklyn Pizza, Sushi House and TCBY plus nearby restaurants Bono’s, Daruma Steak House, Chili’s, McDonald’s and Zaxby’s , all near the growing area near Baptist Medical Center South.
That timeline began Monday as a crew from Burkhalter Wrecking make money travel used a demolition excavator to tear down the 49-year-old, 1,944-square-foot former service station that will make way for the planned bar area of what will be Valentino’s fourth Mellow make money travel Mushroom.
Seventeen months ago, however, the abandoned make money travel service station was set to become a focal point of the planned restaurant, the building housing the restaurant’s bar area, the lot converted into a covered dining space and beer garden.
Those plans were scrapped in a months-long legal back-and-forth with neighborhood groups opposed to the restaurant, which they said would worsen traffic and parking problems in the historic neighborhood.
A compromise reached in January make money travel included, among other things, tearing down the gas station to provide parking in the rear of the restaurant make money travel that, when finished, will include the neighboring Emly Benham/’Town building and new construction on the cleared make money travel lot.
Mellow Mushroom is expected to seat around 204 guests, Valentino said, describing the restaurant as “unique” from the three other Mellow Mushroom restaurants he operates at Tinseltown, Jacksonville Beach and Fleming Island. Among those unique elements is lounge or soft seating inside the restaurant, he said.
