What o you need to bring to obtain a GAC? With my husbands sun allergy cheap airline tickets people have been advising us to get a GAC - just in case. What proof will they need fom us to issue one and how will it affect touring for a family of 5 if oly one of them has a GAC?

Your whole party will have to stay together cheap airline tickets if you all want to utilize the pass. So, you can show up with 3 people at an attraction for a pass with 5 on it but you can't show up at an attraction with more than 5 people, does that make sense?
you don't need anything per-say, because of the privacy laws they aren't allowed to ask what the pass is for or for proof of a condition, etc. Since many of the queues are in shaded areas it will be at the discretion of the Cast Member if they issue a GAC for that or not.

You don't have to provide anything, they can't ask you due to privacy laws, although you can tell them. Just be ready to explain what is needed (in your case, shady area, inside waiting, etc). The person needing the GAC has to be present.
I also have a mild sun allergy. Just go to guest services and explain to them that you have a sun allergy and need to be able to wait in the shade. They will give you a GAC with that noted on it. They will also ask the number in your party and what your last day at WDW will be.
I was just commenting on this in another thread. What will happen if the line is in the sun is that you will show the GAC to the CM, they will then give you a ticket to return at a certain time. For instance, if the wait is 45 minutes, you will be given a ticket to return 45 minutes later. You will then be sent to the fastpass line if it is in the shade or an alternate entrance. Make sure to ask if the line is shaded or not. I made the mistake of assuming one line was shaded and got into the regular entrance. It was very sunny. I was on an ECV and trapped in the line. I was covered in hives by the time we got to the end.
When asking for any accommodation, you should always state what you'd like (what you'd need) and see if they have any recommendations. There are specific stamps they use on the GAC to explain to the queue CM what accommodation you need.
